Yesterday Embee, our friend Paul, and I went for a drive to check out all the local flooding (yeah…slow day on the home front). While driving through the small prairie towns my eyes kept sweeping around watching for old trailers tucked behind barns and houses. I was not disappointed, but this sweet Shasta (???) wasn’t tucked safely behind any outbuilding; it was just sitting in the middle of a cow pasture grazing and being kept company by an old truck.
This lovely Astrodome (???) was protected by a “No Trespassing” sign so it was safe from any deeper probing by me. But I sure do wish I could find the owner and see if they would be willing to sell it to me for a small sum. I need a new project!!!!!!

were you thinking of both the trailer and the truck?

Oh! How well you know me! I would buy the truck, give it a $50 paint job, then gift it to you.

Definitely not a Shasta, but a cool retro trailer for sure~!
Several manufacturers in the 60′s made those ‘bunk over’ style rigs..
I have an old Shasta Airflyte but my favorites are the Astrodomes.

After a second look at it out in the field yesterday I came to the same conclusion as you. I wish I had rescued it last week though because the flood waters are above the axle now.

Enjoyed your post on “Gina gets dressed up.” Love the curtain pattern! Was searching for vintage camper decoration ideas…I have what I call a vintage camper but it’s really a 1973, so it’s not technically vintage. I’ll be blogging about it as I update it…just posted my first pictures of my camper and will be posting redo pictures soon (I hope!). If you’d like to check it out see here: http://nestingprojects.blogspot.com/ It’s such fun to decorate a little home on the road! Thanks for sharing.

What is the definition of vintage anyway? I wonder! I’d say a ’73 fits.

I love seeking out older trailers…Once I am finished with this years “project”, I am going to move it up to Maine for my grandkids to use at their coastal “camp”. Then, I am going to start looking for a 10-13′ Shasta to outfit! I am having so much fun!!!!!

Sounds like you are addicted! Welcome to the crowd. I now own two vintage trailers and keep looking for just the right one. Your coastal camp idea sounds fabulous.

Found you blog by accident while searching on the Loflyte or Astrodome style campers. Was one today in Charlotte behind a body shop. Took a photo. I own a ’58 Shasta Airflyte – though I would like a bath/toilet, I just can’t part with my ‘Lil Ricky – he’s part of the family. Will continue reading your blog. I’ll be coming to Whitefish MT next Sept to visit a dear friend. I’ll keep my eyes open for other campers while I’m there.

Shastas are a little addicting, aren’t they? We just got back from our first camping trip of the summer. I’ll be posting an update about the trip soon. Parked on a bluff over-looking a prairie lake was heaven.
Whitefish is amazing! Great shops and gorgeous scenery. My son-in-law is from there and we love to visit. Hey, maybe the huckleberries will still be ripe when you visit!
